Museums Australia conference

For the first time in a decade, the national conference of Museums Australia will be held in South Australia. Museums and collections professionals, volunteers and others from across Australia and the world will gather at the University of Adelaide to explore the theme of ‘Research and Collections in a Connected World’.

The conference will be an excellent opportunity for professional development and networking for those who work with or have an interest in museums or related areas.

Registrations are now open and available at an early bird price until 13 July.

The conference will address the question of how museums and galleries can contribute in a world that is awash with information but hungry for meaning. A diverse program of events will explore the potential of research:

  • by museums: the role of collections and curatorial expertise in understanding current global challenges such as climate change;
  • with museums: research collaborations with industry, academia, government and community;
  • about museums: how the process and outcomes of research can transform the social, economic and educational role of museums in a rapidly-changing world.
